Overview
What is it?
Bowen Technique is extremely successful when applied to animals, and in this case, to horses.
To recap, it is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. I use Bowen’s unique set of rolling-type moves on precise points of the horse’s body to stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue, no sharp leg lifts or neck cracks and all of the animals I have treated have reacted to the treatment by deeply relaxing.
I have used it extensively for nervous, aggressive or fearful animals or those with emotional issues – and in the majority of cases, there has been a significant improvement in their demeanour and their performance.
Giants
I have had a huge amount of success with horses that have sensitive heads, particularly around the ears. One huge advantage that I have over others is that I am 6’5” – so, technically a giant. This means that I do not stand on a box to treat horses – I stand in full contact with the ground, grounding myself and the animal at the same time. Consequently, any horse that tries to move its head away from me very quickly realises that I have a safe and secure reach and that as they cannot bunt me off the box to get me to stop, they had better calm down. The amount of horses that look me up and down and give in very quickly is amazing !!
