What is Bowen
Bowen Therapy is a neuromuscular skeletal approach to healthcare that employs hands-on soft tissue manipulation for the correction of biomechanical and neural dysfunction.
Is applied using very gentle pressure on precise points of the body. There is no hard, sharp manipulation or adjustment of tissue and no force is used – only a gentle rolling skin movement over precise points.
The experience of a treatment is as gentle and subtle as the body can take. It is guided by the client and it is very relaxing. In fact, most clients drift off to a blissful doze! Because of this, Bowen can be considered for clients for whom other forms of therapy might be too aggressive, forceful or invasive. The tiniest of babies through to the frailest of adults have been successfully treated with Bowen.
It is believed that the Bowen Technique prompts the body to reset, repair and re-balance itself and clients report deep relaxation, almost immediate pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy. Some clients report that their ‘mental fog’ has lifted and a couple have experienced a drastic reduction in clumsiness – or an improvement in spatial awareness.
We have to bear in mind however that every body is very different and every body will react differently to Bowen. There are no guarantees of success but I have successfully treated all manner of conditions and all ages of conditions – the oldest being a 35 year old injury.
